The Choctawhatchee Bay, known locally as the bay, is generally missed by most guests visiting our area. The clear water and white sand of the gulf usually gets the majority of the attention while vacationing.
The bay is absolutely worth checking out! It offers a great contrast to what the beach and neighborhoods of 30A offer. If you would like to check it out while you are visiting, here are some of my suggestions:
How to access the bay
If you want to launch a boat, kayak or paddle board my suggestion is the public ramp at the North end of 395- MAP
Eden Gardens State Park is a great place to check out the bay. There are incredible, ancient oak trees and nice places to enjoy a picnic.
Time to go
You will enjoy the bay at anytime. Sunrise and just after sunset are my favorite times on the bay. The water is usually still and quiet and the fish and wildlife are most active. If you go for sunset take bug spray.
What to do
